Why does a javelin land on its nose?

When thrown properly, a javelin always moves at an angle upward from the ground, the launch. But it always lands on its nose. This means, somewhere in its trajectory, it becomes horizontal and then gradually nosedives. This clearly shows that starting from the moment of its launch, the javelin rotates in the vertical plane. The question is, what causes the rotation?
